Our History

Northern Lights Flax was conceived when Lois Brockman R.N. came across several articles about the incredible health benefits of flax. These articles were fascinating to us because our parents grew flax as we grew up on family farms in Saskatchewan. We never realized that flax was such a nutritious food.

The first article we came across was in Prevention Magazine. The article described flaxseed as “an important new super-food” and goes on to say “ flaxseed has staggering lignan levels...at least 75 times more than any other food”. A recent article in Woman’s World magazine quotes nutrition researcher Diane Morris, Ph.D, as saying “Flaxseed is rich in ALA and lignans, powerful compounds that protect breast cells from cancer.” We thought that everyone should know about this incredible food and we haven’t stopped talking about it since.
